The Teltonika RUTC40 is a global 4G edge router for industrial and enterprise environments where mobile connectivity, local processing and remote management come together. This model combines 4G LTE Cat 4 connectivity via a Telit modem with dual-band Wi-Fi 6, 5 x Gigabit Ethernet and GNSS. Thanks to its dual-core 1.3 GHz CPU, 1 GB RAM and 8 GB eMMC flash, the router also supports Docker for containerized applications directly on the device. The RUTC40 runs on RutOS and supports cloud integration, industrial protocols and management via RMS, among other things. This makes this model deployable as an edge router for mobile data, local services and centralized device management environments.

Edge router technology and integration points

The RUTC40 combines 4G Cat 4, Wi-Fi 6, Gigabit Ethernet and GNSS in one edge router for local and cloud-based networking environments. For industrial and IoT integrations, this model supports protocols and services such as Modbus, OPC UA, BacNET, DNP3, DLMS/COSEM and MQTT Gateway. Data to Server via HTTP(S), MQTT and Azure MQTT is also supported. Docker support allows containerized applications to run directly on the router, while links to AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT Hub, Cumulocity and ThingWorx are part of the platform profile.

Edge router management and configuration

The RUTC40 supports management via WebUI, CLI, SSH, JSON-RPC, API and RMS. For device management and updates, the model supports FOTA, TR-069, SNMP, MQTT and firmware management via RMS, among others. Configuration profiles, configuration backup and firmware updates without loss of current configuration are also supported. Thus, this model fits into environments where central and remote management is required.
