Teltonika RUT204 – CAN bus LTE router with native CAN FD, LTE Cat 4, GNSS and dual SIM
The Teltonika RUT204 is a CAN bus LTE router designed for efficient machine data connectivity in industrial and mobile applications. This model combines native CAN FD hardware with 4G LTE Cat 4, allowing CAN data to be transmitted directly and securely without external converters. Support for CANOpen and J1939 enables integration with CAN-based devices, while GNSS, Wi-Fi 4, RS232, Ethernet, PoE-in and a wide power supply range of 9 – 57 VDC make the device suitable for a variety of installations. The router runs on RutOS and supports RMS for zero-touch deployment, remote monitoring and scalable fleet management. Its compact aluminum housing makes the RUT204 suitable for industrial and mobile environments where CAN data, positioning and mobile connectivity converge. This version is delivered without PSU, so no power supply in the package.
CAN bus LTE router application and positioning for industrial and mobile machine connectivity
The RUT204 is positioned for energy & utilities, industrial & automation, smart city and transportation applications. Within these environments, the device acts as a compact router for collecting, transmitting and managing machine data from CAN-based devices over mobile networks. This model is explicitly linked to use cases such as monitoring of mobile AC units, electric generators and variable speed drives, and to target groups such as OEMs, system integrators and industrial solution providers. In doing so, the RUT204 aligns with projects where CAN data, remote diagnostics, asset tracking and remote fleet management are part of the solution.

CAN router technology and integration points
The RUT204 combines CAN connectivity with mobile network access and industrial interfaces in one compact router. For industrial integration, the model supports protocols and services such as BacNET, OPC UA, Modbus, DNP3, DLMS/COSEM, Data to Server and Modbus MQTT Gateway. In addition, the router supports CAN Gateway for forwarding CAN frames over IP networks, while CANopen Client and SAE J1939 Client are listed as planned. GNSS, RS232, PoE-in and Ethernet enhance deployment in mobile and industrial installations where machine data, positioning and remote access come together in a single solution.
CAN bus LTE router management and configuration
For management, the RUT204 supports WEB UI, FOTA, SSH, SMS, Call, TR-069, MQTT, SNMP, JSON-RPC and Teltonika Remote Management System. Through RMS, the device supports zero-touch deployment, remote monitoring and fleet management, while cloud integrations are available for ThingWorx, Cumulocity, Azure IoT Hub and AWS IoT Core. In addition, this model supports data collect and custom dashboards in RMS. With this, the RUT204 is set up for centralized management and scalable remote deployments.
