The Teltonika EYE Sensor ATEX is an industrial Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) ID beacon designed specifically for use in hazardous areas. Thanks to its ATEX Zone 1 certification, this device is suitable for sectors where safety, compliance and continuity are key, such as oil & gas, chemical industry, hazardous logistics and other industrial environments with flammable gases or vapors.
The EYE Sensor ATEX makes it possible to identify and locate assets, equipment, goods or people within ATEX zones while maintaining intrinsic safety and complying with applicable standards. The combination of a rugged housing, long battery life and easy configuration makes this device suitable for long-term, low-maintenance deployment.
Functional positioning for ATEX and industrial applications
The EYE Sensor ATEX functions as a Bluetooth ID beacon and periodically transmits identification signals via Bluetooth® 4.2. These signals can be received by compatible gateways, mobile devices or Teltonika tracking solutions for asset identification and location determination.
The device is designed with intrinsically safe components that meet stringent ATEX requirements. This allows deployment in ATEX Zone 1, where standard Bluetooth equipment is not allowed.
Compact design and flexible mounting
The Teltonika EYE Sensor ATEX has a compact and industrial design, suitable for mounting on a variety of objects. The housing features two mounting points, allowing attachment with screws, strips, cable ties or tape.
The IP67-certified housing protects against dust and water and supports use in harsh industrial environments, both indoors and outdoors. The low weight and compact size make mounting on tools, plants, containers or vehicles easy.

The EYE Sensor ATEX uses Bluetooth® Low Energy 4.2 and supports multiple beacon protocols:

The wireless range is up to 80 meters, depending on environment and installation. The transmission power is adjustable up to 8 dBm, allowing range and power consumption to be matched.

Internally, the EYE Sensor ATEX is equipped with an STMicroelectronics BlueNRG-2 microcontroller, optimized for low-power BLE applications. Supported functions include:
- Beacon ID broadcast

- Magnetic detection (newer hardware revisions only)
- Hibernate mode for power saving
These features make the device suitable for long-term monitoring without frequent intervention.
Battery and deployment time
The EYE Sensor ATEX features a non-replaceable CR2450 lithium battery (Li/MnO₂) with a capacity of 600 mAh. Depending on the transmission interval set, the battery life is:
- Up to 4 years at an interval of 3 seconds
- Up to 8 years at an interval of 5 seconds (default setting)
- Up to 10 years at 10-second intervals
This makes the device suitable for long-term asset tracking in ATEX environments with minimal maintenance requirements.
