The Digi TX64 5G Rail is an advanced, rail-certified 5G router designed for use in heavy rail environments such as intercity trains, subways, streetcars and light rail vehicles. This router offers reliable and blazing fast mobile connectivity with 5G Sub-6 GHz support, fallback to 4G LTE-Advanced Pro (Cat 20) as well as 3G, ensuring maximum coverage and performance worldwide – even in areas with limited network coverage.
With a wide range of industrial certifications (including EN 50155, EN 45545-2 and MIL-STD-810G), the TX64 meets the most stringent requirements for railroad equipment. The rugged aluminum IP66 enclosure resists vibration, dust, moisture and extreme temperatures from -40 °C to 74 °C, making this router ideal for outdoor deployment and demanding on-board conditions.
High performance and versatile interfaces
The TX64 5G Rail features a powerful 5G modem combined with a four-port M12 Gigabit Ethernet switch. This allows multiple on-board systems – such as cameras, ticket machines, displays or sensors – to be connected via wired connections. Dual Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) allows the network to be split into a private network for backhaul and a public network for passenger Wi-Fi, both with support for 2×2 MIMO and up to 128 simultaneous clients per radio.
In addition, the router is equipped with two USB 3.0 ports, a serial RS-232 port, Bluetooth and an accurate GNSS receiver that also supports Untethered Dead Reckoning (UDR). This keeps positioning reliable even in tunnels or weak GPS signals.
Secure and forward-looking
The Digi TX64 5G Rail complies with the U.S. FIPS 140-2 cybersecurity standard and uses the Digi TrustFence® security framework for maximum network protection. Supported security features include VPN (IPsec, OpenVPN, GRE), stateful firewall, port filtering, certificate management, VLAN, RADIUS, TACACS+ and encryption up to AES 256-bit.
The router is also FirstNet Trusted™ and suitable for critical emergency services and public safety communications. With support for Digi Mobile VPN and WAN Bonding, connections can be actively bundled and automatically taken over in the event of an outage, ensuring continuity of critical on-board systems.
Smart management via Digi Remote Manager
The TX64 comes standard with Digi 360, a total solution that includes Digi Remote Manager for easy cloudbased device management. It allows users to remotely configure routers, update firmware, set up monitoring and mass deploy settings. Supported tools include SFTP, SCP, PCAP logging for Wireshark, CLI (SSH), SNMP v2/v3 and HTTPS Web UI.
